Role/Department:
Auditor/Internal Audit (Asset Servicing Business Unit)

Northern Trust is seeking an Auditor to join the Asset Servicing International (ASI) audit team. This role involves contributing as a team member in the planning and execution of audit engagements and acting as an Auditor-in-Charge (AIC) for smaller audits.

The Auditor will engage with senior members of the Asset Servicing business teams to support the Audit Manager and/or AIC in executing the ASI audit plan. Responsibilities include influencing the audit's scope, performing and documenting walkthroughs, executing control testing, and completing ad hoc project management tasks as necessary.

This position also requires utilizing technical expertise, including data analytics, and collaborating with a global team of auditors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct cross-jurisdictional audit engagements of ASI activities, focusing on areas such as fund services, security servicing, and client management.
  • Design and execute testing approaches, ensuring work paper documentation is clear and concise.
  • Provide technical expertise and apply analytical skills to review relevant information.
  • Communicate audit status to stakeholders and management in a timely manner.
  • Compile findings and recommendations for status updates and audit reports.
  • Follow up on audit issues and assist with validation testing.
  • Contribute to non-audit projects to support team growth.
  • Collaborate with team members across various jurisdictions.
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of assurance experience in internal or external audit within a financial institution or consulting environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or interest in financial services.
  • Aptitude for working in a dynamic global environment with flexibility in working hours.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience in data analytics methodologies.
  • Critical thinking and process analysis skills.
  • Project management capabilities.
