Job Overview

The Young People's Chorus of New York City seeks a highly skilled Finance Manager to oversee financial operations and provide strategic guidance. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in non-profit finance, seeking a challenging opportunity in a dynamic organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management: Manage payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash flow, and forecasting; maintain general ledger and reconcile bank accounts; prepare annual audit and Form 990 filings;
  • Accounting Operations: Oversee accounting software, including QuickBooks Non-Profit, and manage budgeting processes; work with external auditor to ensure accurate financial statements;
  • Grant Management: Collaborate with the Director of Development to prepare grant budgets and monitor fund utilization;
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly operating income/expense statements, restricted funds statements, and other financial reports for senior management and the Board of Trustees;
  • Cost & Revenue Analysis: Analyze cost and revenue data to inform business decisions;
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective insurance coverage and banking relationships;
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to senior management, including purchasing and inventory management.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in non-profit financial management and controls;
  • Credentials: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in accounting, finance, or statistics; proficiency in Excel, Access, and Word;
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize projects;
  • Compensation & Benefits: Competitive salary ($85,000 - $100,000), comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
