Job Summary:

The Washington State Department of Transportation is seeking an Accounting Assistant 3 to provide timely and accurate accounting information to management. This position assists in performing research and analysis of financial activities of the Washington State Ferries, ensuring vendor payments and employee reimbursements comply with regulations and contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and verify financial documents, such as payment vouchers and journal vouchers, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist in performing research and analysis of financial activities to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Work with the Expenditures Manager to prepare accounting documents and ensure timely payment to vendors and employees.


Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and state and federal regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
