Seasonal Aquatic Safety Officer Positions Open

Starting Compensation: $11.00 per hour

Position Overview

Accountable for safeguarding patrons while enforcing aquatic facility regulations; performs water rescues and provides basic first aid as necessary; executes emergency protocols and alerts appropriate authorities; assists in the upkeep and sanitation of the pool area and its equipment.

Key Responsibilities Include: Other tasks may be assigned as required.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service to all visitors and team members.
  • Ensuring patron safety by rigorously enforcing all aquatic facility rules and applying corrective measures for infractions.
  • Maintaining the 10/20 rule effectively.
  • Possessing comprehensive knowledge of rescue techniques and administering appropriate care as situations arise.
  • Executing emergency procedures and notifying relevant authorities.
  • Assisting in facility maintenance; cleaning pool, decks, restrooms; and informing the Assistant Aquatic Superintendent of supplies and equipment that need replenishment.
  • Reporting to the Head Lifeguard/Aquatics Superintendent any guests who repeatedly violate or disregard facility policies, creating safety concerns.
  • Wearing the designated uniform consistently.
  • Working all assigned shifts and programs.
  • Participating in all in-service training sessions, staff meetings, and swimming one mile weekly.
Qualifications:

No prior work or lifeguard experience is required. A background in swimming is advantageous. Must be able to communicate effectively with both the public and staff. Must be committed to acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to rescue patrons and provide appropriate assistance as situations dictate.

Certifications Required:
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard with CPRO certification.
  • If not already certified, training is provided at no cost for employees of the City of Brenham.
Minimum Age Requirement: 15 years old

Compensation: $13.00 per hour based on qualifications.

Additional Responsibilities for Advanced Positions:

Actively instruct Learn to Swim Programs

Conduct American Red Cross Classes/In-services

Cross-trained to assist with front desk, swim lessons, admissions, concessions, and carousel operations

Actively support Camps/Aquatics programs/Recreation initiatives

Work fall/spring shifts from 5:30 am to 1:00 pm twice a week
