Job Summary

The Warehouse Sanitation position at Ben E. Keith Company is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment in the warehouse and surrounding areas. This includes performing various maintenance tasks, cleaning surfaces, and ensuring the proper handling and disposal of chemicals and waste.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean all surfaces of assigned areas using appropriate maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Wipe all work areas with a cloth to ensure the removal of dust on working surfaces.
  • Use a mop, broom, vacuum, and floor scrubber to maintain the cleanliness of all related floor surfaces.
  • Frequently scrub bathroom surfaces, including toilets, countertops, mirrors, and faucets using the appropriate liquids and equipment.
  • Check wall corners and other hard-to-reach surfaces for cobwebs and remove as needed.
  • Wash windows, walls, and wipe down other wood surfaces.
  • Replace soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue in both the bathrooms and break rooms as needed.
  • Remove trash from around dumpster/compactor area.
  • Ensure proper handling and or mixing procedures are followed when using any chemicals.
  • Ensure the use of Personal Protective Equipment when required.
  • Perform exterior perimeter walks, removing any trash or debris found and disposing in appropriate receptacles.
  • Ensure upkeep of designated dock and storage areas to ensure a safe and clean working environment.
  • Sweep and use the floor scrubber on the perimeter of the warehouse, and storage coolers to ensure the work environment is safe and clean during loading/unloading.
  • Ensure the removal of debris and/or remaining pallet wrap from the receiving area, and storage areas, and dispose of trash in appropriate receptacles.
  • Remove debris from underneath dock pallets.
  • Wipe down uprights located on racking.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.
  • Monitor bathrooms and break rooms to ensure cleanliness is maintained.
  • Report damages and/or the need for repairs to the Supervisor.
  • As production demand varies, all employees are expected to have hour and day flexibility.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
  • Maintain all work surfaces, tools, and equipment clean and sanitized.
  • Always follow the USDA, HACCP, SSOP, food and employee safety policies, rules and regulations.
  • Always follow OSHA and the Ben E. Keith employee safety policy, rules and regulations such as Lock Out Tag Out.
  • Wear required protective and food safety equipment at all times while in the production area.
Requirements
  • Able to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent Communication Skills.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Self-Starter.
  • Basic math knowledge.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) preferred.
  • At least 3 months work experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret guidelines, operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Able to work in extreme temperatures (cold and hot).
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations helpful.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 80 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand on your feet all day and work in a cold (32-40) environment.
