Mott MacDonald is currently seeking a Principal Transportation Planner to join our team. This position offers a unique chance to provide innovative transportation solutions for both public and private sector clients.

Our team is at the forefront of the industry, integrating transportation planning, land use strategies, engineering, and digital analytics to create solutions that prioritize social outcomes and assist our clients in making impactful decisions for the future.

In your role as Senior Vice President - Transportation Strategy, you will be an essential part of the Mott MacDonald team, with responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Securing and pursuing new projects in key markets.
  • Overseeing large-scale programs on behalf of clients, ensuring adherence to programmatic scopes, schedules, and budgets while serving as a liaison with federal agencies.
  • Managing various transportation planning initiatives and providing support to other project managers on ongoing projects.
  • Contributing to a range of media including proposals, reports, presentations, conceptual drawings, maps, and graphics for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Interpreting technical data such as datasets, drawings, and maps.
  • Researching, collecting, tabulating, analyzing, and presenting data.
  • Applying foundational knowledge of transportation planning principles.
  • Engaging with clients and the public as project requirements dictate.

The ideal candidate will possess the following core competencies and characteristics:

  • A bachelor's degree in planning, geography, civil engineering, or related fields.
  • 20+ years of relevant professional experience or equivalent qualifications.
  • Demonstrated academic or project experience across various areas, including active transportation, sustainable mobility policy, public engagement, urban design, transit network planning, project evaluation, and land use integration.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or other graphic design and visual communication tools.
  • Exceptional communication skills: written, verbal, and nonverbal.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
  • A passion for sustainable transportation and a commitment to building livable, inclusive communities.
  • Experience with transportation planning or engineering software and modeling tools is advantageous.

In compliance with the Equal Pay Transparency Rules for Colorado, the expected salary range is from $200,000 to $230,000. Various factors such as qualifications, overall experience, and position responsibilities will influence the final salary within this range.
