Position Overview

Head Wrestling Coach at SUNY Ulster

This part-time role, requiring under 17.5 hours per week, is pivotal in overseeing the wrestling program at SUNY Ulster County Community College. The Head Wrestling Coach will report directly to the Director of Athletics and will be responsible for the comprehensive management and strategic direction of the wrestling team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement coaching strategies that foster athlete development and team success.
  • Engage in recruitment efforts to attract and retain talented student-athletes.
  • Coordinate team travel, fundraising initiatives, and all operational aspects of the wrestling program.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including those set by the College and athletic associations.
  • Manage the program within established budgetary constraints while promoting the welfare and safety of student-athletes.
  • Actively participate in fundraising and public relations activities to enhance the visibility and support of the wrestling program.
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills.
  • Current knowledge of NCAA or NJCAA regulations.
  • Proven ability to successfully recruit college-level athletes.
  • Prior coaching experience.
  • Commitment to academic excellence and student-athlete graduation.
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse groups, including student-athletes and the community.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or higher.
  • Experience in recruiting successful student-athletes.
  • Previous college coaching experience.
Compensation:

The salary for this position is set at $7,500 for the entire term.
