Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Services Ambassador to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key member of our Medical Center team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient and guest services, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience for all who visit our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welcoming guests and patients to the Medical Center with a warm and friendly demeanor
  • Providing accurate and timely information to guests and patients regarding Medical Center services and policies
  • Responding to requests for visitor passes and ensuring compliance with established visitor policies
  • Maintaining a clean and organized lobby area, including the information desk and surrounding areas
  • Assisting with the coordination of mail, flowers, and gifts for patients
  • Escorting patients to their destinations via wheelchair, as needed
  • Signing patients into Epic in the Cancer Center
  • Announcing Cancer Center patients to registration
  • Making confirmation phone calls for Cancer Center patients
  • Initiating regular contact with Environmental Services and Plant Operations to ensure the lobby and surrounding areas are maintained to a high standard
  • Explaining parking fee structures and providing information about discount programs available to guests
  • Demonstrating knowledge and maintaining close working relationships with all departments within the Medical Center to provide the best possible service to our guests
  • Attending required in-services, staff meetings, and reviewing staff meeting minutes
  • Assuming responsibility for keeping up with intra-hospital communication by reviewing all information and documents on the communications bulletin board
  • Utilizing positive problem-solving approaches to resolve problems and maintain departmental morale
  • Completing all beginning and end of shift procedures to ensure the consistency of service provided by the department and communicating all important information to the following shift to ensure a smooth transition
  • Responding to all emergency situations in accordance with proper policies and procedures
  • Maintaining confidentiality of information in accordance with Medical Center policies and procedures
  • Remaining visible and positioning themselves at the information desk with a personal appearance that conveys confidence and professionalism while adhering to the department attire standards
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with all volunteers assigned to Information and Guest Services

  • Completing incident reports for any events not consistent with the routine operations of the facility
  • Maintaining a clean and organized Information Desk at all times
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Supervisors and/or Operations Manager
Requirements
  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs
  • Typing ability required
  • One to two years working experience required
