Role Responsibilities

As the Director of External Affairs, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the primary spokesperson for the organization, engaging with stakeholders, partners, and government entities.
  • Meeting with policymakers to elevate the organization's profile on early childhood education matters.
  • Collaborating with policy teams to develop educational materials, including op-eds and policy briefs.
  • Working closely with marketing teams to create and distribute public-facing materials such as reports and press releases.
  • Utilizing research and program evaluations to secure funding for expanded services.
  • Partnering with development staff to identify and pursue grant opportunities.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in early childhood education, nonprofit management, or related fields.
  • A strong understanding of New York City and State government operations within the education and human services sectors.
  • Proven project management skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a history of successful collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools and social media for advocacy purposes.
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field; bilingual candidates are preferred.

Employment Details

This is a permanent, full-time position with a standard workweek of 35 hours. The salary for this role is set at $110,000, with eligibility for a comprehensive benefits package.

Work Environment

While a hybrid work arrangement is currently in place, this position may require in-person engagements with stakeholders and the community.
