Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer I

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer I to join our team at Kaiser Permanente. As a key member of our echocardiography department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of technical, patient-attending, and clerical duties under the technical direction of a cardiologist.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare patients and equipment according to physician orders, ensuring optimal diagnostic results.
- Obtain, measure, calculate, and record echocardiogram studies, reviewing patient medical history and clinical findings as necessary.
- Position patients in a manner conducive to achieving diagnostic results, surveying the area being studied and obtaining preliminary sonographic information.
- Operate equipment in M-mode, 2D, spectral Doppler, and color Doppler techniques, searching for cardiac pathology and moving transducers over the heart to record chamber dimensions and cardiac wall thickness.
- Evaluate direction and speed of intracardiac blood flow using Doppler and assess cardiac valves for permanent record of significant functional and/or anatomical and pathological data.
- Review, screen, and measure echocardiography data, notifying cardiologists of critical abnormalities and compiling, recording, and collating data for interpretation.
- Maintain cardio-pulmonary resuscitation certification, function effectively as a performer, recorder, or circulator in Code 500, and clean and maintain ultrasound equipment regularly.
- Schedule patients for examinations, log tests performed in the echo lab, and code for proper fee collection, performing other clerical tasks as assigned.
- Orient and train new hires in the performance of various echocardiography tests, gathering, collating, and/or analyzing echocardiology data.
- Minimum one (1) year experience in adult or pediatric echocardiography, including experience or successful completion of a training program in the area of specialty, if applicable.
- Successful completion of an accredited ultrasound/vascular technology education program specializing in echocardiography.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Certificate or Registered Cardiac Sonographer Certificate, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers or Basic Life Support certification.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) in Pediatric Echocardiography by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
This is a standard worker position with a variable shift schedule, working 1-5 days a week, with a start time of 06:30 AM and end time of 05:00 PM. The position is located on-site at the Maui Memorial Medical Center - Echocardiography department.
