Job Summary

The City of Bremerton is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting the public, and upholding the laws of the city.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol designated areas to prevent and detect crime, and to enforce laws and regulations.
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, and provide assistance to the public as needed.
  • Investigate crimes, gather evidence, and interview witnesses and suspects.
  • Make arrests and transport prisoners to jail or other designated facilities.
  • Provide traffic control and enforcement, and issue citations and warnings as necessary.
  • Participate in community policing initiatives and engage with the public to build trust and improve relationships.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and departments to share information and resources.
  • Stay up-to-date with changing laws and regulations, and participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree or higher preferred.
  • Successful completion of the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy or equivalency certificate.
  • Current and valid Peace Officer Certification through the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission.
  • Pass a comprehensive background investigation, including financial investigation, polygraph, and psychological evaluations.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment, and to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
