Job Summary:


We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Care Specialist to join our team at Petco Total Care veterinary hospitals. As a Veterinary Care Specialist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating diseases, and providing preventive care according to patient signalment, lifestyle, and environment.



Salary: $83,700 - $177,700 per year



About the Role:


The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills, a passion for delivering exceptional patient care, and a commitment to staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in veterinary medicine. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with other veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to provide comprehensive care to our patients.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Perform routine and complex surgical procedures, including spays/neuters, abdominal exploratory, and mass removals
  • Develop treatment plans for patients undergoing day hospitalization based on complete problem-based assessment
  • Communicate effectively with clients and referral hospitals to ensure continuity of patient care
  • Maintain accurate records of patient observations, findings, treatments, and medications


Requirements:


To be considered for this role, you must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school, active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state where the hospital is located, and current DEA license. You should also have experience performing anesthesia and routine surgeries, including spays/neuters, mass removals, and dentals.
