Job Summary

CIS Secure Computing is seeking a highly skilled Linux System Administrator to join our team. As a Linux System Administrator, you will be responsible for providing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Linux system administration support to our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Linux system administration and maintain Linux server builds.
  • Utilize ticketing systems such as Atlassian Jira, Atlassian Jira Service Desk, Atlassian Confluence, ServiceNow and Microsoft Service Manager.
  • Administer BIND DNS, FTP, and NTP as required.
  • Configure directory service parameters.
  • Maintain and update custom authentication services (SAMBA, VAS).
  • Manage group shares and home directories.
  • Monitor system usage and perform system tuning.
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders to analyze requirements and determine hardware and software needs for automated solutions.
  • Implement system enhancements to boost performance and reliability, covering installation, patching, monitoring, and configuration management.
  • Ensure data integrity through backup and recovery services, proactive management of storage devices, and regular updates of virus and malware protection.
  • Manage user and computer accounts, overseeing file permissions and security access lists.
  • Conduct thorough testing of new releases to minimize user impact and ensure compatibility.
  • Develop and document technical processes and procedures as necessary.
  • Provide recommendations for hardware, software, and system component purchases.
  • Engage with vendors to troubleshoot issues, evaluate products and services, and implement suggestions.
  • Uphold Information Systems security guidelines rigorously, with expertise in DoD STIGs and vulnerability mitigation according to RMF and DoD standards.
  • Maintain security audit and logging information for classified networked and standalone computers as directed.
  • Prepare security documentation for Computer Security input and report project status as required.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret / SCI clearance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Active IAT Level II (CompTIA Security+ or equivalent) Certification.
  • Linux+, LPIC, LFCS, or RHCSA certification.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience with Linux System Administration.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years Installing and maintaining security/update patches for Linux.
  • Experience with Programming/scripting languages such as Python, C, C++, C#, Bash, Perl, Go, and Java.
