Behavioral Health Clinician

The City and County of San Francisco is seeking a highly skilled Behavioral Health Clinician to join our team. As a Behavioral Health Clinician, you will be responsible for providing mental health services to clients, assessing their needs, and developing treatment plans to help them achieve wellness and recovery.
Key Responsibilities- Assess prospective clients and their significant others/families for psychiatric services by interviewing clients, reviewing pertinent factors, and advising clients about confidentiality and scope of services.
- Analyze data by obtaining information through interviews, psychological/medical reports, and previous psychiatric history to determine the appropriateness of referral and make recommendations for the disposition of each case.
- Compile and maintain client records by preparing written/electronic documentation, charts, statistical data, periodic reports, forms, and billing/entitlement information to enhance treatment programs and collection of revenue, ensure proper compliance with legal provisions, including mandatory reporting, and expedite timely access to services.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships by collaborating with other service providers to consult on medical, psychiatric, and psychosocial issues, attend staff meetings/conferences with other agencies/teams to solve problems, coordinate care, and serve as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans aimed at wellness and recovery by engaging clients in appropriate treatment modalities, observing and analyzing changes to determine success in treatment goals, and helping reduce and improve targeted community functionality.
- Provide individual, group, family, and collateral crisis intervention, outreach services, culturally competent interventions, case management, and rehabilitation to clients enrolled in behavioral health services.
- Refer clients to appropriate community resources, services such as mental health consumer service providers, self-help organizations, medical care, vocational rehab, and substance abuse services to integrate clinical and practical interventions, actively manage caseload by maximizing use of resources to meet client needs.
- Advocate for accessibility and improved services for individual clients/groups by identifying client needs, providing input in developing treatment/program models, interfacing with administration and intra-agency contacts, and participating in Quality Improvement activities at local sites and system levels.
- May supervise support staff such as Health Workers.
- Possession of a valid license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) for either Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC).
- Knowledge of pertinent laws and regulations, decision-making ability, knowledge of principles of psychiatric case management, knowledge of clinical methods, knowledge of appropriate resources, knowledge of basic personnel policy and practices, self-protection/assessment skills, written communication skills, and oral communication skills.
The selection process for this position will include a Training and Experience Examination, which will assess the candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities in job-related areas. The examination will be weighted 100% and will be used to determine the candidate's eligibility for the position.
