Job Description and Position Requirements

Penn State University Talent Acquisition is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Category Lead to join our team. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for creating and driving strategic sourcing and vendor management for IT Software across the University.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, with a focus on IT Software. You will be responsible for developing and implementing category strategies, managing vendor relationships, and analyzing purchasing data to drive value and savings.

We are looking for a collaborative and results-driven individual who can work effectively with stakeholders across the University to achieve business objectives. If you have a passion for procurement and a desire to make a meaningful impact, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement category strategies to drive value and savings
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts
  • Analyze purchasing data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to achieve business objectives
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to procurement team members
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as business administration, supply chain, or finance
  • At least 8 years of experience in procurement, with a focus on IT Software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
