Job Title: Estimator - Heavy Civil Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Estimator - Heavy Civil Specialist to join our team at Webber, a Ferrovial company. As an Estimator - Heavy Civil Specialist, you will play a critical role in analyzing, preparing, and reviewing bids for heavy civil projects, including roadways, highways, and bridges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Access cost-effectiveness of products, projects, or services.
  • Track actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, and personnel in other departments to discuss project strategies and estimates.
  • Confer with engineers, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Review plans and specifications for general compliance and standard industry practices.
  • Administer full-cycle take-offs and pricing for assigned divisions, subcontractor coordination, and bid preparation.
  • Maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors using SmartBidNet software.
  • Prepare sub-bid analysis documents for project teams.
  • Prepare electronic estimates, including preliminary cost information.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and by sharing knowledge and skill.
  • Maintain a highly organized work environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Complete post-bid analysis for lessons learned and problems encountered.
  • Train and develop less experienced estimators.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in all aspects of utility construction with exposure to at least three different market segments.
  • A minimum Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Environmental Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering or similar degree.
  • Experience in operating estimating software such as AutoCAD, Primavera, Timberline, WinEst, etc.
  • Moderate to high level of proficiency operating MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word.
  • Ability to work largely independently, be self-motivated, and demonstrate initiative, managing multiple deadlines at one time.
  • Ability to work as part of a team throughout the pre-construction stage.
  • Valid driver's license for occasional, required travel.
  • Spatial Reasoning and ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or governmental regulations and government forms and data.
  • Full understanding of Construction Math concepts.
