About the Automotive and Diesel Mechanic Position

As a Diesel Mechanic with First Student, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing our fleet of school buses to ensure vehicle readiness and safety. You will lead preventative maintenance, safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections, as well as diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle and equipment repair.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead preventative maintenance, safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections
  • Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle and equipment repair, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions
  • Train and guide lower-level technicians
Requirements:
  • Willingness to obtain CDL while employed (we provide training)
  • At least 1-3 years of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education
  • Training, testing, and bonuses are provided
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical
What We Offer:
  • Competitive wage range of $27.73 per hour based on experience
  • Up to $25 per hour for each ASE certification you possess or obtain
  • $5,000 sign-on bonus*
  • Up to $175 boot reimbursement per year
  • Company-paid ASE testing and training materials
  • Monday-Friday 6:00 am - 3:00 pm full-time shift schedule and consistent, year-round work
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)
  • Ten company-paid holidays
  • 100% Company-paid Medical coverage for Individual plans
