Position Overview

The Broadmeadows Children's Court has initiated a pioneering program known as Marram-Ngala Ganbu, which translates to 'We are One' in the Woiwurrung language. This program is designed to enhance the outcomes for Koori children involved in child protection cases by offering a culturally sensitive approach to decision-making processes. The Marram-Ngala Ganbu initiative also strives to uphold the Aboriginal Child Placement Principle as outlined in the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005.

Key Responsibilities

As a Koori Family Support Officer, you will report directly to the Broadmeadows Koori Services Coordinator and play an essential role within the Marram-Ngala Ganbu team. Your primary responsibility will be to provide non-legal assistance to Aboriginal families navigating matters in the family division at the Broadmeadows Children's Court.

Candidate Profile

We seek individuals who can engage with Koori families in a compassionate and effective manner. Your role will involve offering support that alleviates stress, respects cultural needs, and ensures that the voices of these families are acknowledged and valued.
