Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Engineer to join our team. As a Fire Protection Engineer, you will be an integral part of our team, working closely with clients, team partners, and fellow staff to produce engineering drawings and documents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform fire suppression and alarm engineering calculations, including hydraulic calculations and intelligibility calculations.
  • Conduct life safety code reviews.
  • Prepare construction documents, including drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate with in-house and subconsultant specialists.
  • Collaborate with other trades, such as architects, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing engineers.
  • Perform field verification of existing systems for renovation projects.
  • Communicate with manufacturer representatives to determine solutions for specific applications.
  • Prepare design deliverables for various owner-required submittals, i.e., SD, DD, CD level documents.
  • Perform project construction administration, including response to RFI's, review of submittals, preparation of bulletins, review of contractor change orders, field visits, and punch trips for installation verification.
  • Review designs prepared by others as part of AEC's QA/QC process.
  • Attend meetings with clients, authorities having jurisdiction, and other professionals as projects require.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering from an accredited university.
  • FPE License.
  • 5-15 years of fire protection engineering design experience.
  • Working knowledge of design and analysis software such as Revit, AutoCAD. Knowledge with AutoSPRINK and EASE Evac is a benefit but not required.
  • Good knowledge of State and Federal Codes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient knowledge of standard construction practices and the ability to work with contractors to address construction issues.
  • Ability to work and manage several projects concurrently.
  • Experience in designing Federal, Healthcare, Commercial, Public Sector, Education, and/or Institutional projects.
