About the Role

Versar Global Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Investigator/Project Archaeologist to lead our cultural resources operations in southeastern New Mexico. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising a large data recovery project in Lea County, New Mexico.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and direct an archaeological field crew to ensure successful project execution
  • Coordinate with senior staff on a daily and weekly basis to ensure seamless project operations
  • Oversee artifact analysis and post-field technical writing
  • Supervise archaeological crews and ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory processes
  • Experience in supervising archaeological crews, strong excavation skills, and experience running a data recovery operation are essential
  • Strong writing and verbal skills, including the ability to prepare cultural resource reports, are required
Requirements
  • Graduate degree in anthropology, history, or a related field is required
  • Archaeological experience in southeastern New Mexico is mandatory, and candidates must be permitted on federal and state land
  • Proven leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and well-developed organizational skills are essential
  • Proficiency in GIS, Excel, and Microsoft Word is required
  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively and possess a valid driver's license
What We Offer

Versar Global Solutions offers a competitive salary, health benefits, and a 401k retirement plan. This is a funded solicitation, and hiring is for the full term of the contract. Continued employment with Versar beyond this data recovery is contingent on available contracts and performance.

The successful candidate will relocate to Carlsbad, New Mexico, and will be provided with lodging for seven days of the week. Per-diem will be provided for days worked, and field efforts are expected to cover three-six months with post-field write-up extending another six months. Remote work will be considered for post-field efforts, and some travel to El Paso, Texas, is required.
