As a Peer Advocate, you will provide support, encouragement, and assistance to mental health consumers, promoting recovery and empowerment through shared experiences and self-help activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Peer counseling and mental health education
  • Information workshops and advocacy training
  • Entitlement workshops and housing-related services
  • Homeless outreach and consumer rights education
  • Conflict resolution and substance abuse counseling
  • Cultural sensitivity training and consumer governance/technical assistance
  • Self-help services and ADL training
  • Voter education/political action and interpersonal skill development
  • Social network development and telephone outreach

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and completion of a Peer Advocate training program
  • Personal lived experience with the mental health system
  • Ability to sit or stand as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation
