Job Title: Settlement Specialist (Paralegal)

We are seeking a highly skilled Settlement Specialist (Paralegal) to join our team at Consumer Legal Group. This role is a key part of our legal team, providing vital support to attorneys and contributing to the efficient functioning of our department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, Review, and Organize Legal Documents: Ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to legal guidelines when drafting, reviewing, and organizing legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and correspondence.
  • Settle or Negotiate Accounts: Settle or negotiate accounts with opposing counsel, utilizing strong negotiation skills and attention to detail.
  • Write or Adjust Templates: Demonstrate strong writing ability by writing or adjusting templates, ensuring clarity and precision.
  • Assist Attorneys: Assist attorneys in preparing cases by conducting factual and legal research, analyzing data, and organizing relevant information.
  • Communicate with Clients and External Parties: Communicate with attorneys, clients, witnesses, and external parties to gather information, schedule meetings, and provide updates on case progress.
  • Provide Administrative Support: Provide organized administrative support to all cases, including scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings, and handling phone calls and correspondence.
  • Maintain Electronic Case System: Maintain and update our electronic case system with accurate recordkeeping.
  • Stay Updated with Legal Trends: Stay updated with legal trends, changes in regulations, and new case laws.
  • Collaborate with Team Members: Collaborate effectively with attorneys, other paralegals, and legal support staff, fostering a positive and cooperative work environment.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Legal studies or similar field or Paralegal Certification preferred; or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • Computer Skills: Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and related mail operation services software applications.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as legal files, summons, answers, business correspondence and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and professional correspondence.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Qualifications that Predict Success:

  • Experience in a Similar Role: Experience in a similar role required.
  • Experience in Settlement/Negotiations: Experience in settlement/negotiations is required.
  • Strong Understanding of Legal Concepts: Strong understanding of legal concepts, procedures, and terminology.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to comprehend complex legal concepts and convey them clearly.
  • Professional Ethics and Integrity: Uphold the highest standards of professional ethics, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Strong Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate client records.
  • Ability to Work Independently: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to deadlines and maintaining a high level of productivity.

Compensation: Starting salary range of $50,000 – $65,000 depending on relevant experience. We hold regular performance reviews to ensure we are actively identifying top performers and providing formal feedback.
