Job Description

The Entry End Operator plays a crucial role in the production process at Precoat Metals. This position is responsible for coordinating the line entry activities of material allocation, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Production Schedule Review: The Entry End Operator reviews the production schedule to ensure timely and accurate material allocation.
  • Material Allocation Coordination: Coordinates the line entry activities of material allocations, ensuring that the correct materials are allocated to the production line.
  • Coil Loading and Inspection: Loads the entry coil carts with proper coils and conducts micrometer gauge checks and width and appearance checks to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Reporting and Record-Keeping: Reports coil identification information to the proper personnel in the proper sequence and maintains accurate records associated with this position.
  • Coating Line Operation: Operates the entry operator stations to properly charge coils into the coating line according to expectations and set procedures.
  • Material Monitoring: Monitors material during uncoiling and leaving the entry section, as well as the total plant activities.
  • Calculations and Adjustments: Accurately calculates footage and/or weights for specific jobs and makes adjustments to achieve the appropriate sheet shape.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Communicates verbally and in writing with other departments of the plant concerning plant operations and assists in unpacking coils to be loaded onto the coating line.
  • Quality Control: Checks coils for passivation and maintains a clean and organized work area according to 6s standards.
  • System Operations: Inputs and retrieves information to and from the AS/400 main frame and the IPM systems.
Qualifications:
  • Education and Experience: A high school level of reading and writing, visual acuity to read labels, meters, gauges, documents, and instructions.
  • Industrial Experience: Six months of work experience in an industrial warehouse environment with fork lifts.
  • Operational Skills: Ability to safely operate small, manual, and electric hand tools.
  • Availability: Ability to work up to 12 hours per day or night, including weekends and/or holidays.
  • Preferred Experience: Six to 12 months of previous experience on a coating line.
