Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts thorough investigations into coverage and causes of loss for a range of claims, from straightforward to complex cases. This includes reviewing policies, interviewing relevant parties, and gathering essential documentation for analysis.
- Manages claims involving unrepresented, represented, and litigated injury and property damage, assessing and evaluating exposures. Identifies high-severity cases for escalation to the large loss team.
- Delivers precise evaluations and negotiates equitable resolutions while effectively managing costs. Settles claims based on documented damages, policy language, and applicable regulations, all within designated authority limits.
- Drafts comprehensive written communications, including settlement letters, coverage disclaimers, and reservation of rights letters.
- Maintains meticulous claim file documentation and a diary system, ensuring timely progression and resolution of claims.
- Identifies and pursues recovery opportunities, preparing submissions to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) when necessary.
- Oversees and coordinates field examiners and vendor resources, including independent adjusters, engineers, and other specialists as required.
- Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in handling Commercial Liability Claims.
- Possession of a property and casualty license in 15 states or an Independent Adjuster license (if not currently licensed, must be willing to obtain within the first month of employment).
- Experience in litigation management.
- Strong understanding of coverage concepts, policy interpretation, exposure recognition, and liability assessment to effectively analyze and resolve claims using best practices.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in a remote work environment.
- Proficient negotiation skills, particularly in challenging situations.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- CPCU or SCLA designation is preferred.
- Ability to make sound financial, indemnity, and business judgments while supporting loss evaluations and presenting them effectively.
- Basic proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Capable of performing both simple and complex mathematical calculations related to work.
- Ability to compose clear and concise written correspondence and factual reports, utilizing proper grammar and punctuation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Compensation:
- Salary range of $58,500 - $97,500 based on experience, with bonus eligibility.
- Salary range of $64,500 - $107,500 based on experience in select states, with bonus eligibility.
