Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct maintenance and repairs on diesel inboard engines.
  • Oversee the upkeep of onboard generator systems.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on outboard engines.
  • Execute routine maintenance and safety inspections on vessels.
  • Diagnose issues in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Assist external service providers with onboard repairs.
  • Participate in after-hours and emergency maintenance calls.
  • Manage refueling operations for vessels as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workshop and surrounding areas.
  • Operate forklifts and cranes as required.
  • Procure supplies under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager.
  • Collect parts and supplies from vendors when necessary.
  • Support hurricane preparedness procedures when needed.
  • Collaborate with management to enhance the Preventive Maintenance Program.
  • Utilize company vehicles for transporting boats on trailers.
  • Launch and retrieve boats from ramps.
  • Basic electrical and welding skills are advantageous.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, operational guidelines, and maintenance manuals.
  • Proficient in basic mathematics, including calculations of percentages and volumes.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with an emphasis on professionalism and respect for diverse perspectives.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Possession of a valid TWIC and driver's license.
  • Capability to operate boats with a state-issued boat operator permit.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience or a 2-year technical degree.
  • Experience with Caterpillar, Cummins, and Yamaha engines is a plus.
  • Knowledge of jet propulsion systems is beneficial.
Physical Requirements:
  • Regularly required to use hands for handling tools and equipment; ability to reach, stoop, kneel, or crawl.
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, or balancing is necessary.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work may be performed day or night, in various weather conditions, and near deep water and electrical systems.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders, stand for extended periods, and operate motor vehicles.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment, including hard hats, safety shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses.
  • Ability to work around moving machinery and perform under stress or in emergency situations.
  • Capability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and adhere to company policies and standards.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in noisy environments.
Working Conditions:
  • Work in close proximity to others, both indoors and outdoors, during day and night shifts.
  • Exposure to moving and vibrating equipment is common.
  • Work in high humidity and noisy environments, with potential exposure to airborne dust and fumes.
  • Stable work surfaces, with some elevated heights involved.
  • Subject to environmental conditions, including exposure to weather and physical hazards.
