The Patient Access Representative plays a crucial role in managing patient appointments and facilitating communication between patients, families, and healthcare providers. This position is essential in ensuring a seamless experience for patients as they navigate their healthcare journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Appointment Coordination:
- Efficiently schedules patient appointments, ensuring all necessary services are arranged.
- Coordinates additional services, including medical records and educational materials for patients.
- Billing and Service Liaison:
- Acts as a primary contact for patients regarding billing inquiries and service-related questions.
- Handles incoming communications related to billing issues and provides timely responses.
- Patient Support:
- Addresses patient complaints and works towards resolution, ensuring patient satisfaction.
- Updates patient information and assists with insurance details as needed.
- Documents all interactions with patients for reference and follow-up.
- Additional Duties:
- May assist with prior authorizations, referrals, and complex scheduling tasks.
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned by management.
- Minimum age of 18 with relevant education or experience.
- 0 to 2 years of experience in a clinic or healthcare setting.
- Experience in customer service or medical reception is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology is essential.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an Associate's or vocational program in a related field.
- Experience with electronic medical records is advantageous.
- Primarily sedentary work with occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
