Lead Teacher Position at The Rise School of San Antonio

Overview: The lead teacher plays a pivotal role in fulfilling the mission of The Rise School of San Antonio, which is to deliver exceptional early childhood education to all children. This position exemplifies professionalism, fosters supportive relationships with families, communicates effectively, collaborates deeply, coaches fairly, and serves as an expert in early childhood education for children of varying abilities. The lead teacher reports directly to the School Director and oversees a teacher and a teaching assistant.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Family Engagement and Community Relations: Cultivates an understanding of family dynamics and values; establishes respectful and reciprocal partnerships with families; assists families in accessing necessary community resources.

  • Acts as the primary liaison with families through lesson plans, regular updates, emails, reports, and in-person meetings.

2. Child Assessment: Leads the initial and ongoing evaluation of children, utilizing assessment data to inform instructional strategies and interventions; develops and implements Individualized Instructional Plans for students with identified needs.

3. Educational Practices & Child Development: Designs and maintains a learning environment that is inclusive and reflective of the diverse cultures, needs, and interests of students; employs evidence-based, developmentally appropriate teaching strategies tailored to meet the varied needs of all learners.

  • Utilizes assessment results to create engaging activities and lesson plans aligned with the curriculum.
  • Provides necessary adaptations and accommodations for individual learning requirements.
  • Implements Behavior Intervention Plans as needed.
  • Ensures a safe and nurturing environment for all children.
  • Meets the daily care needs of children, including personal hygiene and nutrition.
  • Coordinates transitions to subsequent educational settings.

4. Collaborative Practices: Fosters and maintains cooperative working relationships with therapists and fellow educators to enhance classroom instruction.

  • Applies techniques and strategies recommended by therapists and seeks additional support when necessary.

5. Mentorship and Supervision: Oversees, evaluates, and mentors the teaching staff, including interns and volunteers, when applicable.

  • Facilitates weekly team meetings to discuss student progress, reflect on teaching practices, and plan future activities.

6. Professional Standards: Adheres to program policies and procedures; ensures a safe classroom environment; maintains compliance with licensing and quality standards; welcomes feedback and coaching from leadership; upholds professional communication with all stakeholders; ensures confidentiality of all children and families; maintains a professional appearance and demonstrates a commitment to teamwork and continuous learning.

Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:

● Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree (or progress towards) preferred.

● Minimum of three (3) years of experience in early childhood education, special education, or a related field.

● Certification in Pediatric CPR and First Aid (or willingness to obtain certification).
