Position Summary: The lead educators at Rise play a pivotal role in fulfilling the mission of delivering exceptional early childhood education to every child. They exemplify professionalism, foster supportive relationships with families, communicate effectively, collaborate deeply, coach fairly and explicitly, and serve as expert educators for children of diverse abilities. The lead teacher reports directly to the School Director and oversees a teacher and a teaching assistant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Family Engagement and Community Outreach: actively seeks to understand and appreciate family dynamics; establishes respectful and reciprocal partnerships with families; assists families in accessing necessary community resources.
- The lead teacher serves as the primary liaison with families through lesson plans, regular updates, written communications, reports, and personal meetings.
● Child Assessment: leads the initial and ongoing evaluations of children, utilizing assessment data to inform instructional strategies and interventions; develops and implements Individualized Instructional Plans for students with identified challenges.
● Instructional Practices & Child Development: cultivates a learning environment that is universally designed and reflective of the students' cultural backgrounds, needs, and interests; employs evidence-based, developmentally appropriate teaching strategies tailored to meet the diverse needs of all students.
- Utilizes assessment data to create engaging activities and weekly lesson plans aligned with the school's curriculum;
- Provides necessary adaptations and accommodations for individual learning needs;
- Develops and implements Behavior Intervention Plans;
- Ensures a safe and suitable environment for all children;
- Meets all daily care requirements for children (e.g., diapering, feeding, medication administration);
- Coordinates transitions to subsequent classrooms or educational settings.
● Collaboration: fosters and maintains collaborative relationships with therapists and fellow lead teachers to enhance classroom instruction.
- Implements recommended techniques and strategies from therapists and seeks additional support as needed.
● Mentorship: supervises, evaluates, and mentors the teacher and teaching assistant, as well as university student interns and/or other classroom volunteers when applicable.
- Facilitates weekly team meetings to discuss student progress, reflect on teaching practices, and plan for upcoming activities.
● Professional Standards: adheres to program policies and procedures; supervises the classroom to ensure the health and safety of each child; upholds all licensing and quality standards; actively engages in feedback and coaching from directors; maintains professional communication and interactions with the teaching team, therapy team, administrators, families, and volunteers; ensures confidentiality of all children and families; presents a professional appearance and demonstrates teamwork, cooperation, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications:
● Bachelor's Degree; a Master's Degree (or progress towards) is advantageous.
● Minimum of three (3) years of experience in special education, early childhood education, or a related field.
● Certification in Pediatric CPR and First Aid (or willingness to obtain certification).
