Position Summary:

The Children and Youth Caseworker operates under the guidance of the Children and Youth Supervisor, delivering essential case management services within the youth service framework. This role involves evaluating the safety and welfare of children referred for assistance. By employing a strengths-based methodology, caseworkers empower families to cultivate skills, identify resources, and coordinate support systems that enhance the overall welfare of children.

Services are delivered in various settings, including homes, educational institutions, and community environments. Caseworkers may also engage with legal and law enforcement entities concerning child safety matters, which may involve providing testimony as needed.

Comprehensive training is provided to equip staff with the necessary knowledge and skills for effective service delivery. Flexibility in scheduling is offered to accommodate on-call responsibilities and after-hours work.

Key Responsibilities:

- Establish and maintain positive relationships with children and families.

- Evaluate safety and risk factors for children on assigned caseloads.

- Collaborate with families to create tailored Family Service Plans that highlight strengths and areas for growth, ensuring child safety in their environments.

- Identify community resources and family supports to assist children and families.

- Accurately document services provided to ensure compliance and clarity.

- Work alongside various systems, including legal, educational, and medical, to coordinate care.

- Engage in continuous professional development to enhance service delivery.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree with at least 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related fields; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience that includes 12 college credits in the aforementioned areas and one year of experience in a similar role performing case management functions.

Employment Prerequisites:

Valid automobile insurance, Pennsylvania Driver's License, acceptable Motor Vehicle Record, Act 33 and Act 34 Clearances, FBI Fingerprint Clearance, Social Security Card, Immigration and Naturalization (I-9), and Drug Screening Clearance.

Work Environment:

Involves extended periods of computer use in an open office setting, effective communication through virtual platforms, and travel within the designated region, potentially in adverse weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds is required.
