Position Summary:

This role operates under the guidance of the Children and Youth Supervisor, focusing on delivering case management services within the Children and Youth service framework. Caseworkers are tasked with evaluating the safety and welfare of children referred for assistance. Employing a strengths-based methodology, they aid families in skill development, resource identification, and support coordination to enhance the overall welfare of children and families. Services may be rendered in various settings, including homes, educational institutions, and community locations. Caseworkers may also engage with legal and law enforcement entities regarding child safety matters, which may involve providing testimony in judicial settings.

Comprehensive training is provided to ensure staff possess the necessary competencies to fulfill their responsibilities effectively. Flexibility in scheduling is available to accommodate on-call duties and work outside standard hours.

  • Evaluate safety and risk factors for children within assigned caseloads.
  • Collaborate with families to create tailored Family Service Plans that highlight strengths and areas for growth, ultimately ensuring child safety.
  • Identify and connect families with community resources and support systems.
  • Document services provided accurately and comprehensively.
  • Work alongside various systems, including legal, educational, and healthcare frameworks.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance service delivery.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree with at least 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related fields; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education, including 12 college credits in the aforementioned areas and one year of experience in a similar role performing paraprofessional case management tasks.

Employment Prerequisites:

Valid automobile insurance, Pennsylvania Driver's License, acceptable Motor Vehicle Record, Act 33 and Act 34 Clearances, FBI Fingerprint Clearance, Social Security Card, Immigration and Naturalization (I-9), and Drug Screening Clearance.

Work Environment:

Prolonged periods of computer use in an open office setting, effective communication through virtual platforms, and travel within the assigned region may be required, including in adverse weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds is necessary.
