Position Overview

The IT Project Manager is a global role within our Shared Services IT Team, responsible for steering enterprise-wide, cross-functional strategic initiatives, including ERP system upgrades and business transformation. The ERP transformation will play a crucial role in shaping the future of Kimball Electronics. The individual in this position will collaborate with global project teams to ensure successful completion in line with established standards. To excel in this role, the candidate must be self-driven, exhibit strong leadership qualities, possess excellent communication skills, and demonstrate effective time/project management capabilities. This role requires the ability to lead change, maintain a positive demeanor, and quickly deliver results to earn trust and build support. This is an individual contributor position managing matrixed teams, necessitating strong leadership and influencing skills. The IT Project Manager role is part of our KESS IT team at Kimball Electronics, Inc. (KEI) and reports to the Director of IT Business Partnerships & PMO. This position allows for remote or hybrid work arrangements.

Key Performance Objectives

  • Short Term: (0 to 3 months)
  • Understand KEI culture, personnel, and processes from a managerial viewpoint.
  • Establish business relationships with KESS and site resources.
  • Become an integral member of the KESS IT application team, gaining familiarity with processes, procedures, and project management best practices.
  • Participate in the SAP S/4HANA evaluation team, collaborating with the business to establish process ownership and drive standard processes.
  • Review and maintain system documentation to support various business requirements and changes.
  • Engage in applicable fiscal year-end audit tasks.
  • Gain insight into the KEI ERP landscape, history, and current architecture.
  • Midterm: (3 to 6 months)
  • Take on project management leadership, collaborating with solution partners to scope and plan the ERP transformation project, determining resource needs, timing, and approach.
  • Understand the SAP licensing model and manage regular audits.
  • Share ownership of existing internal IT project management tools.
  • Work with the current IT Project Manager on requirements for new tools and processes to support a global IT PMO.
  • Assist in the evaluation and selection process for third-party applications as necessary.
  • Long term: (6 to 12 months and beyond)
  • Lead the overall ERP transformation project and manage project delivery involving multiple stakeholders, including third parties as needed.
  • Collaborate across teams to enable additional owned SAP toolsets, identify overlapping functionalities, set standards, and evaluate cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with SAP best practices and standards in solution design, configuration, and testing.
  • Communicate project status, updates, and key milestones to stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Educate business users on available productivity tools and solutions, providing guidance and fostering a self-service culture.
  • Maximize end-user digital adoption.
  • Embrace a continuous improvement mindset and work with BU IT teams to identify areas of greatest opportunity.
  • Enhance awareness of tools we own and their capabilities.
Basic Background Requirements

This position requires:
  • Bachelor's degree in technology or business.
  • PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of Project Management experience in a multinational manufacturing environment preferred.
  • ERP technical knowledge/experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA modules, functionalities, and best practices preferred.
  • Professional training in Six Sigma, ITIL, or Lean is desirable.
  • Experience with FDA GMP820 and Part 11 impacts on IT work for medical device manufacturers is desirable.
  • Ability to maintain relationships with third-party vendors.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to support global business needs.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Demonstrated leadership competencies and proven ability to motivate teams and complete large-scale projects.
  • Ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Systems-oriented mindset.
  • Willingness to travel globally.
  • Proven ability to earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders.

The estimated gross base annual salary range for this role is $85,000- $100,000 per year. Actual compensation may vary and is dependent on various factors, including a candidate's work location, qualifications, experience, and competencies. Base annual salary is one component of Kimball Electronics' total rewards and competitive benefits package, which may include 401(k), paid time off, learning and development opportunities, and comprehensive health and wellness benefits. Salary history is not used in compensation package decisions. Kimball Electronics utilizes market pay data to determine compensation, so posted compensation ranges are subject to change as new market data becomes available.
