Compensation: $100-110k + 10% Bonus
Job Summary: As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will develop, define, and lead implementation through study, method changes, and process improvements of manufacturing methods and procedures to meet manufacturing objectives. This role is responsible for designing and implementing methods for controlling manufacturing costs on equipment, analyzing data for reducing manufacturing costs, providing specialized engineering services to their department/product line, and assisting departments in the accomplishment of cost reduction goals as directed by Engineering Management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform CNC programming for machining centers as required to change, improve, or update machining processes and methods.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials, conferring with vendors, and soliciting observations from plant operators.
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures.
- Improve manufacturing efficiency through analyzing data, planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities, and establishing standards to confirm the manufacturing process and results.
- Support engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance by providing data and information, answering questions, and providing solutions as requested.
- Implement new systems and procedures as designed.
- Utilize FMEA, DFMEA, and DOEs to drive continuous improvement in the manufacturing and engineering processes.
- Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services, following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures, and requesting special services as needed.
- Develop and mentor staff and technicians, providing strong developmental support.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in related professional organizations.
- Direct efforts to meet and/or exceed compliance with all regulatory bodies, organizations, and government requirements in the performance of position duties.
Required Skills:
- Working knowledge and experience in Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma tools.
- PC/Systems knowledge and skills.
- CNC programming in G&M Code, both by hand & CAM.
- Working knowledge of machine cutting tools.
- Working knowledge of workholding.
- Understanding of GD&T, tolerancing stack up, fixture design & troubleshooting.
- Exposure to manufacturing ductile cast iron, alloy steels, & stainless-steel machined components.
- Strong problem-solving skills, root cause analysis methods.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of employees, customers, and outside professionals.
Required Education/Experience:
- 5-10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment involving high-speed machining operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience with capital projects scope development, justification, and management.
Preferred:
- Experience with machine monitoring and OEE optimization is a plus.
- 2+ years’ experience with MasterCAM related to 2, 3, 4, & 5th axis machining centers.
- 2+ years’ experience with Solidworks related to tool/fixture design.
- Knowledge of automation and robotic applications.
- Welding manufacturing process & capabilities.
