Team Overview
The Fraud Team at Stripe is dedicated to reducing the company's exposure to fraud, both for buyers and sellers. The EMEA & APAC Fraud Team focuses on developing and executing regional strategies that effectively mitigate risks while fostering a secure financial environment and ensuring positive user experiences.

Your Role
As a key member of the Fraud Strategy team for EMEA & APAC, you will play a crucial role in formulating strategies to combat buyer and seller fraud across various Stripe products in these regions. Your efforts will contribute to safer payment processes for our users and assist Stripe in managing payment risks with intelligence. You will encounter complex challenges that evolve rapidly, requiring innovative solutions to maintain the integrity of Stripe's payment systems.

Key Responsibilities
1. Fraud Risk Monitoring: Analyze trends in buyer and seller fraud within EMEA and APAC, investigating unusual behaviors at both the merchant and transaction levels.
2. Regional Health Metrics: Define, develop, and oversee critical regional fraud health metrics, setting improvement targets for these indicators.
3. Fraud Strategy Development: Identify opportunities for fraud protection investments in the regions, collaborating with stakeholders across Data Science, Product, Engineering, and Operations to implement these strategies.
4. Support for New Initiatives: Assess fraud risks associated with new product launches and country expansions, devising strategies to mitigate these risks both before and after launch.
5. External Partner Engagement: Communicate with financial partners and users to inform and educate them about Stripe's fraud prevention systems.
6. Regional Reporting: Provide updates on fraud activities within the Stripe ecosystem to internal risk committees and external regulatory entities.
7. Insight Sharing: Relay important updates to regional stakeholders and the broader risk organization.

Candidate Profile
We seek individuals who meet the essential qualifications for this role. While preferred qualifications are advantageous, they are not mandatory.
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience.
- A natural curiosity and passion for risk prevention, with a desire to investigate and resolve underlying issues.
- Decisive yet eager to learn, capable of making impactful decisions while adapting based on experiences.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by new businesses, prioritizing user needs while balancing enforcement decisions with user experience.
- Strong analytical skills, with a passion for data analysis and the ability to communicate business decisions through quantitative insights. Proficiency in SQL is required.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with a knack for conveying complex concepts clearly.
- Proven project management skills, with the capacity to drive projects across multiple teams within and outside of Risk.

Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in quantitative tools such as Python, R, or Stata.
- Experience in payments, particularly with regional payment methods and markets, as well as risk management or trust & safety.
- Familiarity with machine learning teams.
- Background in fast-paced, rapidly evolving startup environments.

Work Environment
This position offers flexibility, allowing for either office-based or remote work arrangements. Office-based employees are expected to spend a minimum of 50% of their time in the office each month, promoting collaboration while accommodating individual preferences.
