Job Description

WL Plastics LLC is seeking a highly skilled Corporate Safety Specialist to oversee the implementation of plant safety and environmental programs.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Safety Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field, and 2-4 years of experience working in safety management.

The Corporate Safety Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that company safety policies and procedures are current and functioning, and will provide guidance and information to management and supervision regarding regulatory requirements and employee health and safety.

The successful candidate will possess the skill set required to accept delegation of authority from the SHE&C Manager for specific projects and or coverage, and will be able to lead efforts and teams to develop policies, procedures and key metrics that drive awareness, provide performance data and continuously reduce risks for facilities across the U.S.

The Corporate Safety Specialist will also be responsible for overseeing OSHA recordkeeping, including 300 logs and injury/illness metrics for assigned facilities across the U.S., and will liaise with other internal SHE&C resources (corporate and plant) to ensure consistent regulatory interpretation and industry standards/best practices are upheld.

The ideal candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of safety systems, including risk management, ergonomics, injury and incident investigation and reporting, permit systems, auditing techniques, training techniques, organizing and coordinating safety meetings, etc.

The Corporate Safety Specialist will also be responsible for conducting on-site reviews and audits, maintaining corrective action lists and follow-up and close out action items, and providing subject-matter-expert advice and guidance to a team of Safety Coordinators at facilities across the U.S.

The successful candidate will have the ability to connect and build rapport and relationships with employees at all levels, and will be able to work efficiently with time management and possess organizational skills.

The Corporate Safety Specialist will also be responsible for monitoring injury/incident investigations and analyses, providing analyses of accidents and injuries, including development and completion of action plans and initiatives to address any trends.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to drive process improvement and be an agent for change, and will be able to regularly, predictably, and fully attend work.

The Corporate Safety Specialist will also be responsible for overseeing the performance of detailed operational hazard assessments, including evaluation, implementation, and consistent use of appropriate engineering controls and/or protective equipment.

The successful candidate will have the ability to provide guidance and direction to employee safety teams and act as a liaison between employee and management safety teams.

The Corporate Safety Specialist will also be responsible for understanding and putting into practice the SHE Principles at all facilities and their work groups.

The ideal candidate will have a valid passport for international travel, and will be able to travel up to 40% of the time for audits, training, or benchmarking purposes.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within WL Plastics LLC, therefore, candidates and employees must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
