Job Summary

The Staff Services Manager I is a key member of the Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation's Administrative Operations team. This role is responsible for overseeing the Budget and Accounting Unit, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, and providing technical advice to management on budget and accounting matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set priorities and oversee the Budget and Accounting Unit, ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Process complex financial transactions, including budget preparation and analysis, and ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Provide technical advice and consultation to management on budget and accounting matters, including financial planning and analysis.
  • Lead special projects and drills, and evaluate staff performance to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Manage a team remotely, utilizing Business Information System (BIS) data for daily activities.

Requirements

  • Thorough and detailed knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to budget and accounting.
  • Ability to manage a team remotely and provide technical advice to management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.

Working Conditions

This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, allowing employees to work from home and in the office. Telework is only available to residents of California.
