Position Overview:

The role of the Operations Officer in Operational Communications is pivotal in shaping and executing policy modifications for communication systems. This position focuses on recognizing enhancement opportunities and refining the operational framework of VICSES, particularly in dispatch and alerting functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert guidance and facilitate communication with personnel and volunteers regarding call-taking and dispatch processes.
  • Implement advanced capabilities within the communication systems.
  • Support the Manager of Operational Communications in delivering effective information services that bolster emergency service operations.
  • Conduct operational command and control duties during local, regional, and state-wide emergency situations.

Compensation and Employment Details:

  • Salary range: $92,332 to $104,762 plus a 15% Commuted Allowance and Superannuation.
  • Full-time, ongoing position.
  • Ability to travel to the Regional office or ICC within 60 minutes when on duty is essential.

The Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) operates as a volunteer-driven emergency service, dedicated to minimizing the impact of emergencies through community engagement and resilience building. Our volunteers are extensively trained to respond to a variety of emergency scenarios, ensuring a swift and safe recovery for affected communities.

As Australia’s largest road rescue network, we provide 24/7 assistance for road accidents and trauma incidents, collaborate with Victoria Police in search and rescue missions, and support various agencies during significant bushfire and emergency events.
