Key ResponsibilitiesThe Technical Accounting Specialist will:
- Ensure adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards.
- Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of accounting principles, standards, and regulations to guarantee compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and other pertinent regulations.
- Investigate and interpret technical accounting issues, including new standards and pronouncements, providing insightful guidance to management and stakeholders.
- Lead the transition to new accounting standards, evaluating their impact on financial statements and internal controls.
- Review and scrutinize financial statements and disclosures for compliance with GAAP and other regulatory frameworks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and external auditors, to resolve accounting-related issues and facilitate the financial reporting process.
- Prepare technical accounting documentation to outline the organization's accounting policies, procedures, and conclusions.
- Assess and document accounting policies and procedures, recommending necessary updates or enhancements.
- Support external audit processes by supplying documentation, explanations, and analyses related to technical accounting matters as requested by auditors.
- Stay updated on emerging accounting trends and issues, evaluating their potential implications for the organization.
- Provide training and mentorship to finance and accounting personnel on technical accounting topics.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, emphasizing technical accounting and financial reporting.
- A strong grasp of GAAP, IFRS, and other accounting standards, including ASC 606 and ASC 842.
- Experience in researching and interpreting complex accounting issues, offering practical guidance and recommendations.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a sharp attention to detail.
- The capability to convey complex accounting concepts to non-accounting stakeholders effectively.
- Experience in a public accounting firm (e.g., Big 4) is advantageous.
- Familiarity with SOX and SEC reporting is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software applications.
