Job OverviewThe Patient Access Specialist will serve as a liaison between patients, payers, and healthcare team members, facilitating patient tracking and billing by obtaining and verifying demographic information, securing financial responsibility, and collecting out-of-pocket payments.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, including EMTALA, DNV, and HIPAA.
- Provide exceptional customer service, understanding customer needs and building quality relationships.
- Answer phone calls professionally, record messages, and communicate with medical staff.
- Obtain and verify demographic information, insurance benefits, and authorizations.
- Maximize collection efficiency and accuracy by pursuing collections at the time of service.
- Scan registration and clinical documentation, maintain medical records, and assist with patient transfers.
- Respond to medical record requests and maintain a clean working environment.
- High School Diploma or GED, required.
- 1 year of patient registration and insurance verification experience, required; 2 years preferred.
- Knowledge of various insurance plans and payors, required.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and excellent customer service skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, strongly preferred.
