Job Summary

As a Pharmacy Technician II at UNC Health Care, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacists in providing exceptional patient care. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality pharmacy services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and accurately transcribe orders from prescribers under the supervision of a pharmacist, ensuring timely and efficient processing of prescriptions.
  • Assist with training new employees, educating them on job-specific functions and promoting a culture of excellence.
  • Support Medication Therapy Management, Medsync, and other clinical outreach programs, contributing to the improvement of patient outcomes.
  • Select and prepare medications (oral, topical, controlled substances, etc.) as authorized by a physician, under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
  • Prepare medications for pick-up, delivery, or shipping, and process returns and credits.
  • Solve issues with patient payment, including prior authorization and patient assistance programs.
  • Respond to and triage requests from customers for assistance with pharmacy services that do not require a pharmacist's professional judgment or expertise.
  • Operate and support automated dispensing technology to supply correct medications for individual patients, according to pharmacist and physician orders.
  • Order, receive, restock, and rotate inventory and supplies, and contribute to expiration date management.
  • Participate in process improvement projects, driving continuous quality improvement.
Requirements
  • Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy (unless enrolled in a PharmD program).
  • CPhT from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA (unless enrolled in a PharmD program).
  • Prior pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
