As a Laboratory Operations Supervisor, you will oversee and manage personnel, equipment, resources, and testing protocols within the laboratory or a designated section.

Base Hourly Compensation:
$42. Under the guidance of a Pathologist and in accordance with company policies, procedures, and guidelines, you will conduct routine laboratory testing as outlined in the standard operating procedures manuals. You will adhere to quality assurance and quality control protocols during all testing processes.
Correlate clinical data and/or previous laboratory results and report any discrepancies to the Medical Technologist, senior, or supervisors.

Perform all essential duties of a medical technologist and senior while assuming direct supervisory responsibilities over personnel and resources within the lab or specific section.

Maintain and operate laboratory equipment; troubleshoot issues with the assistance of technologists.
Ensure that necessary laboratory supplies are consistently available in your assigned area or department.
May be rotated to other laboratory locations or shifts as required.
Train or instruct laboratory personnel in the execution of lab tests and procedures as assigned.
Engage in developmental work for new tests.
Participate in established Total Quality Management (TQM) activities, quality control testing of lab reagents, and equipment maintenance. Follow protocols for running and documenting control values. Collect, evaluate, and report quality management data to monitor and enhance laboratory performance.
Willingly share knowledge and provide clinical orientation to other staff members.
Maintain open communication with supervisors, pathologists, and colleagues to ensure optimal departmental operations. Relay pertinent information to other healthcare team members in a clinically relevant timeframe to enhance the laboratory's contribution to patient care.
Ensure continual compliance with standards set by accrediting or regulatory agencies.
Provide direction and make decisions regarding clinical laboratory situations.
Monitor personnel performance and document evaluations through periodic appraisals as directed by company guidelines.
Establish procedures and maintain a laboratory department or unit under the direction of the lab manager in compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
May perform advanced tests, examinations, or analyses in specialized fields.
Oversee the training and evaluation of new MLT/MT employees/students in collaboration with the appropriate education coordinator and HR staff.
Establish and document laboratory procedures using software for method validation as required.
Adhere to safety, confidentiality, compliance, and legal requirements.
Work in a dynamic laboratory environment with biological and chemical hazards.
Champion safety, compliance, and quality control.
Possess a Bachelor's Degree in medical technology or a related science from an accredited program.
Hold current certification or registration as a Medical Technologist such as ASCP, NCA, HEW, AMT, or equivalent.
Maintain a valid and current State of Hawaii license as a Medical Technologist.
Have a minimum of four (4) years of clinical laboratory experience in a hospital or commercial lab setting.

The Medical Director may exercise discretion in assigning a supervisory position to an individual with less than four (4) years of experience.

For hospital settings, additional requirements may apply and change without notice, including, but not limited to, criminal background checks, health clearance, and hospital compliance training.

Exhibit strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
Possess strong computer skills (Word and Excel) and knowledge of laboratory information systems.
Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including but not limited to telephones, automated analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, manual and automated pipettes, and audible alarms.
Experience of 4+ years in a laboratory setting within a hospital or commercial lab.
