Job Summary

The Medical Laboratory Technician will be responsible for performing laboratory analysis on blood and other body fluids, as well as interfacing with medical center personnel and physicians to review lab results and confirm diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and evaluate laboratory analysis on blood and other body fluids.
  • Interface with medical center personnel and physicians to review lab results and confirm diagnoses.
  • Perform quality assurance testing and instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Assist laboratory scientists by utilizing microscopes, cell counters, and other high-precision lab equipment to examine and analyze blood, body fluids, tissues, and cells.
  • Investigate and resolve problems and unusual situations.
  • Evaluate and implement new methodologies and procedures as assigned by supervisors.
  • Use medical center and laboratory computer systems in the performance of daily tasks.
  • Generate appropriate and required documentation of testing and support procedures.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have 1 year of experience in a medical laboratory, with experience working as a generalist (chemistry, hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis). You must also have BLS and ASCP or AMT-MLT National Certification, as well as an associate degree in science or a health-related field, such as chemistry or microbiology.

Requirements: ASCP, BLS, 2 Years

Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.
