Job Summary

Union Tank Car Company is seeking a skilled Railcar Repair Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance crew, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our railcars.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of railcars to identify and repair any defects or damage
  • Perform mechanical repairs to railcars, including tank and hopper cars, in accordance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Association of American Railroads (AAR) regulations
  • Use specialized tools and equipment to complete repairs, including welding and airbrake testing
  • Maintain accurate records of repair work, including documentation of materials used and time spent on each job
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient completion of repairs and maintenance tasks
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and schematics
  • Proficiency in the use of basic hand and power tools
  • Ability to safely operate machinery, including large work vehicles and forklifts
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
