Job Title: Academic Coach - Expanded Learning Program

Job Summary:

The Academic Coach - Expanded Learning Program will provide academic support, coaching, and intervention in a safe, supportive, engaging, and interactive learning environment. This position will focus on increasing academic performance and helping students learn the skills to prepare for their futures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic coaching, resources, planning, and goal setting to ensure high school and college success.
  • Develop skill-building workshops related to academic success and life skills.
  • Create, plan, and facilitate academic activities based on students' skill level and state educational standards.
  • Develop academic intervention plans in partnership with teachers and students.
  • Promote a safe and positive classroom environment and actively supervise and ensure student safety at all times.
  • Model positive and proactive attitudes, behaviors, and language that is professional and kid-friendly.
  • Attend and actively participate in all staff and agency trainings and meetings.
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with the Coordinator, program staff, day staff, and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of an Associate Degree or higher, or 48 or more college units, or a High School Diploma or GED and pass Instructional Aide exam.
  • Pass a criminal background check and TB test clearance.
  • Meet the requirements to work every day during after-school hours and commit to an academic school year (hire date through mid-June) required for the position.
  • Have a general knowledge base of core elementary/middle school subjects.
  • Possess strong classroom and behavioral management skills.
  • Be able to communicate openly and professionally with students, staff, parents, community partners, and school day staff.
  • Have basic technology and computer skills (word, email, Google Drive, etc.).
