Job Title: Code Enforcement Officer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to enforce Land Development Regulations, Code of Ordinances, Building Codes, and Standard Housing Codes. As a Code Enforcement Officer, you will be responsible for inspecting properties, investigating complaints, and issuing notices of violations. Key Responsibilities:
  • Enforce applicable sections of the Land Development Regulations, Housing Codes, and Code of Ordinances through inspection and review activities.
  • Testify at Code Enforcement Board Hearings and follow up on Code Enforcement Orders.
  • Issue notices of violations on public nuisance, housing code standards, zoning, and building codes, and abandoned vehicles.
  • Patrol assigned areas and investigate complaints called in by the public. Interact with the public for assistance in interpreting specific sections of the Land Development Regulations, Housing Codes, and Code of Ordinances.
  • Discuss code violations with the public.
  • Foster positive employee relations and employee morale on a City-wide basis.
Requirements:
  • High School graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma, supplemented by 60 college credits from an accredited U.S. College with courses that include building, construction, or inspection techniques.
  • One (1) year experience working with building codes, municipal codes, or as a Code Enforcement Officer preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License with a good driving record.
  • Knowledge of municipal codes, housing codes, enforcement, and inspection techniques.
