Building Inspector and Code Enforcer

CAP Government, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Building Inspector and Plan Examiner. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of building codes and regulations, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Job Summary:The Building Inspector and Plan Examiner will be responsible for ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations, conducting inspections of new and existing buildings, and reviewing plans and specifications for compliance. The successful candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively with the public and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
- Review plans and specifications for compliance with building codes and regulations
- Issue verbal and written notices of code violations and citations for code violations
- Assist in resolving complex and sensitive customer service issues
- Maintain records and documents of customer service issues and resolutions
- Research problems and complaints regarding commercial and residential work and code compliance
- Observe building conditions and issue notices of violations for corrections of violations
- Attend annual continuing education courses for re-certification
- Oversee powers and duties as may be delegated by the Building Official
- Enforce and explain pertinent sections of the Building Code
- Prepare reports of code violation cases and present them to the Code Compliance Special master
- Maintain high ethical, honest, and moral standards
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of current codes and regulatory standards governing the state's building construction industry
- Knowledge of all functions relevant to the processing and approval of building construction projects
- Ability to detect deviations from plans, regulations, and standard construction practices
- Ability to get along with others and work effectively and courteously with the public and fellow workers
- 3 to 5 years combined experience in building department field inspections and plans examiner duties, is a plus
- State of Florida Standard Inspector License (BN), a plus
- State of Florida Plans Examiner License (PX), a plus
- State of Florida Registered Architect (RA), a plus
- State of Florida Registered Professional Engineer (PE), a plus
- State of Florida General Contractor License (GC), a plus
