Job Title: Heart Failure Scholar

At the Commonwealth of Virginia, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Internal Medicine physician to join our team as a Heart Failure Scholar. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of cardiovascular care and improve patient outcomes.

Job Summary:

The Heart Failure Scholar will participate in a one-year clinical and scholarly program, working closely with our world-class team at the VCU Health Pauley Heart Center. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their clinical skills, engage in research, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Teaching: Support teaching and education of housestaff and non-physician professionals.
  • Research: Participate in clinical research protocols, recruitment, and adjunctive clinical management, and engage in scholarly activity.
  • Learner: Participate in learning activities on inpatient consult services and ambulatory settings focused on exposure to clinical heart failure.
  • Clinical: Anticipated clinical effort is 25%. The workload and time commitments are commensurate with the medical hospitalists - nocturnists; duty hours will be 7 shifts per 4-week period of time.
Requirements:
  • Board Certification/Eligibility in Internal Medicine.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Clinical and scholarly interest in a career in heart failure.
