Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Operations Specialist to join our Sponsored Programs Accounting team at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. As a key member of our team, you will assist the Manager of Sponsored Programs Accounting with the technical and procedural administration of processing, maintaining and reporting accounting data related to grants accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement procedures for adherence to conditions mandated by sponsors, government, university, and campus regulations and procedures.
  • Supervise and train the SPA staff and assist the manager with other duties as assigned.
  • Actively promote, model and initiate the values, principles and methods within the work-group.
  • Lead departmental activities in the absence of the manager.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
  • 3 years of successful accounting experience, including a solid understanding of accounting principles.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain federal regulations, policies and procedures, and contracts and grants.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete assignments with moderate supervision.
  • Ability to supervise and instruct employees.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in sponsored programs (grants) or related areas.
  • Experience in an educational or medical environment.
  • Three years supervisory experience in accounting.
