Position Overview: We are seeking a seasoned CNC Machining Cost Analyst to join our Pre-Sales Engineering team. This role is pivotal in client quotations, supplier selection, production strategy, and ensuring timely order delivery. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background of 8 to 10 years in CNC machining cost estimation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate engineering models and drawings to outline the manufacturing process, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
  • Conduct accurate cost estimations, factoring in materials, tooling, production times, inspection durations, and necessary equipment.
  • Collaborate closely with Machinists, Quality Assurance, Engineering, Management, and other stakeholders to meet customer requirements effectively.
  • Source materials and finishes as required.
  • Provide cost estimation expertise for prototype, low-volume, and high-volume CNC machining projects.

Essential Knowledge:

  • Comprehensive understanding of various CNC machining technologies.
  • Experience in programming and setting up CNC machines, including 3/4/5 axis milling, CNC lathes, and live tooling lathes.
  • Familiarity with welding, grinding, wire EDM, assemblies, and finishing processes.
  • Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Knowledge of relevant protocols, standards, technologies, and machining applications.
  • Ability to analyze customer RFQs to determine material needs and job routing.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to clarify requirements and expectations.
  • Engage with external vendors to secure optimal pricing and solutions.
  • Compile and manage all external and internal costs associated with engineering, manufacturing, finishing, and quality control processes.
  • Prepare detailed quote packages for final assessment.
  • Maintain daily quote logs and track key performance indicators.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to analyze engineering solid models and drawings, with familiarity in GD&T.
  • Capable of modifying solid models as necessary.
  • Provide technical guidance to machinists and process engineers during CNC operations.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills and discipline.
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications accurately.
  • Assess and resolve design for manufacturing (DFM) challenges.
  • Work efficiently within a team environment.
