Reports To: Project Assembly Supervisor

Summary

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is a senior role responsible for adding mechanical options to new and used CNC equipment as well as being able to perform rebuilds on various CNC equipment with minimal direction. This position requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to handle complex mechanical projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret complex blueprints and drawings to ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Prioritize work assignments and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Observe and enforce proper safety procedures in a machine shop environment.
  • Perform all work while following LO/TO safety requirements, OSHA standards, and NFPA 70 E.
  • Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, lasers, and plumb bobs.
  • Safely operate forklifts and overhead crane systems, including proper rigging safety guidelines.
  • Assemble components using various hand and power tools according to specifications.
  • Perform basic and complex geometry procedures when realigning machine axes, including 5-axis and more.
  • General CNC programming and machine operation, troubleshooting, option setup, parameters, and keep relay settings.
  • Redline existing drawings and follow up with the engineering department to verify changes made.
  • Interface with all departments as necessary to provide good communication throughout the project.
  • Responsible for the cleaning of incoming rebuild or used equipment.
  • Read and follow assembly prints, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics while performing assigned tasks.
  • Take responsibility for adding mechanical options to new and used CNC equipment.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends when required.
  • Minimal travel, both domestic and international, is required.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Troubleshoot potential issues and provide feasible solutions.
  • Perform simple electrical tasks as needed.
  • Provide communication to other departments regarding current projects.
  • Perform quality checks on machine installations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or higher degree.
  • Trade school, journeyman, or military certification in a mechanical trade is preferred.
  • Experience in an industrial environment.
  • Experience in the machine tool industry or other metal-cutting industry is preferred.
