Position Overview:
North Mississippi Health Services is in search of a dedicated Clinical Laboratory Technician to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervision: Oversee the workflow of phlebotomists within the Specimen Processing area.
  • Distribution and Transportation: Ensure the precise and efficient transport of laboratory supplies, equipment, and specimens while adhering to all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Specimen Handling & Processing: Comply with regulatory standards for the handling and processing of laboratory specimens, ensuring accurate patient identification and labeling.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with all staff, patients, and their families.
  • Customer Service: Implement AIDET principles as applicable and participate in CARES training, ensuring proper service recovery when necessary.
  • Employee Relations: Collaborate effectively with all Pathology and NMHS personnel.
  • Reporting/Recordkeeping: Ensure timely and accurate reporting of department testing and assist in achieving departmental performance improvement goals.
  • Education: Contribute to the training of students and new hires while engaging in continuing education to enhance skills.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to NMHS/NMMC policies and comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including CAP and CLSI standards.
  • Job Knowledge: Possess an Associate of Arts degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician from an accredited program; ASCP certification is preferred within a year of graduation.

Additional Information:
Valid Mississippi Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record are preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, along with knowledge of biohazardous specimen handling.
